Steele County is located in South Central Minnesota. It was named for Franklin Steele, an early developer of St. Anthony Falls in Minneapolis
The largest city and seat is Owatonna.
Main roads through the county include I-35, US-14, US-218 and MN-30.
It borders Waseca, Rice, Dodge, Mower and Freeborn Counties.
